Alfred Knows is a simple, free service that marketers can use to easily identify vetted email list verification vendors for their next project.

A marketer suspects they have a dusty list or perhaps they’ve been alerted, or even blocked, by their ESP. They know they need to clean up their file but where do they start? A quick Google search? That’s a good place start but we all know there are good guys and not-so-good guys that offer email verification who may know a thing or two about search marketing.  A LinkedIn group inquiry then? Let the pitch-fest begin. Maybe they simply ask their agency or ESP? Many agencies and many ESPs have resale or referral relationships with an email verification partner but their referrals are often lacking in diversity, and perhaps their preferred vendor product’s or pricing have not been reviewed in months or years, potentially culminating in a recommendation that may reflect poorly on the ESP or agency.

In order to arrive at vendor recommendations we could stand behind, we first secret-shopped a short list of what believe to be the most whitehat verification companies. Because we believe there are good ones and bad ones, but not "one best one", so we rank those companies by their strengths, accuracy and, of course, price. .

When a user submits their request to alfredknows.com we email them a breakdown of the companies we like for their list cleanup project. The email includes links, key differentiators and pricing discounts and perks if available to up to three companies. To be clear, the verification companies we recommend do not receive the contact or project details of any user submission; however, a number of days later, we ask users to provide additional feedback on their experience which we use to validate or contradict our findings and help close the feedback loop, so to speak.
